  • How many driving hours do I need before I can take the exam?

Across Germany, the average number of driving hours required before the practical driving license test is between 15 and 25 hours plus special trips. Learner drivers who already have experience in road traffic because they B. already have a foreign driver’s license or a driver’s license for other categories of driver’s license may take less driving hours. However, the number can be significantly higher for anxious students.

According to the law, an hour's drive takes 45 minutes. With us, however, double hours (90 minutes) are common in order to achieve optimal learning success.

The aim of our driving school is to prepare our learner drivers for the test with as few driving hours as possible, but as many as necessary, so that it works the first time and there are no unnecessary additional costs. In addition, after passing the test, you should be able to move safely on the road alone.

  • How many compulsory hours do I need for a class B driving license?

The so-called special trips could also be called mandatory hours. The legislator prescribes these hours before taking the practical test.

For driving license class B, it was determined that 12 special trips must be completed. These are divided as follows:

    • 5 cross-country trips
    • 4 freeway journeys
    • 3 twilight or night trips

However, you can only start the special trips if you are traveling in a traffic-safe and relatively safe manner. Therefore, you must take a few hours of practice in any case.

  • How is it determined when I can take the practical exam?

You always decide together with our driving instructor when you are ready for the test.

If your driving instructor thinks it would be better to take a few more driving hours, you can rest assured that they are necessary. Thanks to their experience, our driving instructors usually know very well whether someone can already pass the test. With us nobody will let you drive unnecessarily often or long.

If you are ready to take the test, the driving instructor will forward the test request to DEKRA. After that it can take up to 2 weeks until you are admitted to the exam. As soon as your exam has been approved by DEKRA (approx. 1 week in advance), the driving instructor will let you know and tell you the day and time.
